This is the veterinary clinic you’ve been looking for.

The inFURmary is an independent, specialist-led practice built for pet owners who expect more.

Not your average general practice.

In veterinary medicine, “boarded” means a doctor has completed years of advanced training, handled a large number of complex cases, published research, and passed a rigorous exam. It’s the highest level of recognition in the profession.

Most boarded specialists focus on one specific area, such as surgery or cardiology. Dr. Johnson is boarded in general practice, which means that same advanced training applies across the full spectrum of care for dogs and cats.

The inFURmary is one of the only places in San Diego where your family vet is also a boarded specialist. Every visit starts at a higher level of knowledge and skill.

Where worry becomes relief.

Being a pet owner means celebrating the good days and worrying through the hard ones. We’re here for all of it, from the routine checkups to the moments that keep you up at night.

What if it’s something serious?

You’re already ahead. Every exam is with a boarded specialist, and we’re one of the few independent practices in San Diego where advanced expertise is your starting point.

How am I going to afford this?

We’re upfront about costs and have a variety of options that let you choose what fits your budget, your pet, and your values.

My pet seems stiff or slower, but I don’t know if it’s pain.

Pain management is our specialty. We spot it earlier and treat it in more complete ways—from joint injections to rehab—so pets stay active and comfortable for more years.

It’s all on me to keep track of everything.

Not here. We stay in the loop, bring specialists to you, and keep your pet’s full medical context straight. You don’t have to carry it alone.

Will anyone actually listen to me?

Yes. Your questions, instincts, and concerns matter. We take the time to hear you and incorporate your voice and values into every decision.

Questions pet owners ask us most

No. Every exam at The inFURmary is led by a boarded specialist in general practice, and you can book directly with us.

Most boarded specialists focus on one narrow area, like cardiology or surgery. Our doctor is boarded in general practice which means advanced, master-level training across the full spectrum of medicine for dogs and cats.
Yes. We’re locally owned and independent, not corporate. That means no one tells us how long to spend in an exam or what treatments to recommend. Decisions here are based on what’s best for your pet.
Our exam fee is $82. We’re transparent about pricing and explain every option before moving forward so there are no surprises.
Yes. We offer same-day appointments when your pet needs help quickly. If we ever think your pet would be safer at a 24/7 ER, we’ll guide you there directly.
Everything from routine wellness and preventive care to complex pain management and advanced surgeries. Many families come to us when they want more in-depth answers without the specialty hospital cost.
We have fellowship-level training in pain management, which is rare in general practice. That means we can spot problems earlier and use a wide range of therapies—rehab, joint injections, laser, medications—to keep pets comfortable longer.
Yes. Every visit is with the same boarded specialist, and we stay involved if other specialists are needed. Your pet’s story doesn’t get lost here.
Yes. We work with CareCredit and other payment plans when needed, and we always present multiple options so you can choose what works best for your family.

I love this place and everyone who works there. The staff is so helpful, my cat had an accident in her carrier due to nerves and the sweet lady at the front desk helped me take care of it. We’re always immediately taken back to an exam room, which really calms my girl down, it has treats and a cat tree that goes a long way in soothing her. The vet, and vet techs, are all so kind and my cat obviously is very comfortable with them. It’s easy to make an appointment online and they have great availability. I’ll choose this place any time! Very accommodating, kind & helpful, great communication. We wanted to get Synovetin injection treatments for our dog, Juno for her severe elbow osteoarthritis while we were vacationing from Canada but we were on fairly tight time line. Synovetin is only available at specialized vet clinics like the InFURmary, requires advance prep & radioactive handling precautions but they made it work for us. Kept costs to a minimum by making use of X-rays & info provided by our regular vets. Took extra care while Juno was under sedation to look for other issues that could be impacting her movement & provided shock wave treatments to her shoulders to help improve her mobility. It takes time for the Synovetin treatment to repair the damage in the joints but Juno is doing great and moving much more comfortably now. Dr. Jacqueline, Shirley and staff were absolutely great!! 🐾

Dr. Johnson is one amazing veterinarian. She is so knowledgeable, caring and resourceful when it comes to the care of my dogs. The staff is equally wonderful with the care they take and the follow up for each of my pets. I trust Dr. Johnson implicitly with my pups. I wish my own GP was as amazing for me as Dr. Johnson is for my pups. Love the Infurmary!!
